If the greatest of all, became the least of all, then who am I to think that I am better than others? If I find it hard to get along with others, if I am constantly changing friends, if I am searching for unity, to be understood, if I want to discover sacrificial love and reap its benefits, then I must consider giving humility a try. Philippians 2:3-4 (NKJV) teaches us this: "Let noting be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for himself, but also for the interest of others." Wow! Is it possible for us to do it? Yes, we can. In a world that practices the "Me first" motto, it is difficult to even imagine that it is possible. But when we discover more of what the mind of Jesus is like, we see things differently and far better. It takes humility, strength of character, love for other than self, and less thinking about self.
Let's ask Jesus to give us His mind on everything, trust Him to do it, and begin to walk in it, by practicing putting the needs of others first, and watch the difference it makes in our lives and the lives of others.
Have a blessed day!
