My mind goes back to several years ago, when God spoke to me about returning to Boston and beginning the ministry here. I felt within myself that it was too late for that and the optimal time for starting a ministry had come and passed for me; yet I heard God saying, 'Trust Me." Today, I believe that there is still more to come, and I hear God saying again, as He has reminded me time and again, "Trust Me."
Sometimes we think that we have missed our chance to do something great, missed our opportunity to see the dream come to pass or the vision fufilled, and we become discouraged, because we think it is too late to make an impact. But when God asks us to trust Him, there is undoubtedly more in the waiting.
When Jesus told Simon Peter to let down his net to catch some fish, Peter objected by saying that the optimal time had passed and they had caught nothing, still he added this statement to his objection, "But if you say so, I'll let the nets down again" (see Luke 5:5 NLT). For Peter the optimal time was during the night, all night. Still, he acted on the word of the Lord, and everything changed.
You may also be feeling like Peter, or like I did at first, but I invite you to go ahead and act on what the Lord has told you. Let you objections fall at his feet, and trust His word. God is still in the business of commanding fish, people, circumstances, and anything for that matter. Nothing is out of His reach. Go ahead and try it. The results will blow your mind.
Blessings!
