How many times have you prayed for someone you love; spouse, child, friend etc, but then when things began to move in a manner that you did not expect, you stepped in to rescue or change the outcome, but did not check in with God. I have done it more often than I would like to admit, but I have also learnt a great lesson.
Sometimes we mean well by stepping in to help or rescue, but quite often our good intentions can interfere with God's intended purpose. You see, most of us think that we know what God's intervention looks like. We tend to think that if it is good, it is God, but if it is not so good, it is not God. But we should not assume that posture of belief. Sometimes God may be using what we consider a problem that we need to solve, as a lesson that need to be taught, or an event that needs to occur to develop character, turn a person in the right direction, or bring about fulfillment of purpose. Imagine what would have happen if Reuben had gone through with his plans to rescue Joseph out of the pit.
Make sure that you check in with God, before you rush in to assist. Don't let your good intentions get in the way of what God wants to do in a person's life, less you find yourself trying to short circuit what God has in mind for them.
