We dumb down on Judas because of his betrayal of Jesus, but how many of us tend to overlook our own betrayal because it is not as blatant? Today, I would like us to take a moment and consider this question: Yes, Judas betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver, but is it possible that you could also be betraying him too? Could we also be doing what Judas did, only it looks a bit different, and Jesus is not present for us to see the ache in his heart? Could our betrayal be related to money, sex, a high, another drink, a promotion, a chance to get to the top, a relationship that doesn't uphold the values we once held to, or anything else that doesn't align with His call on our lives to be His disciple?

Jesus is looking for disciples who will not compromise or be swayed to disloyalty by ungodliness, worldly passions or selfish gain. Saying "No" to compromise, refusing and refuting anything that will lead to betraying the One we love, is why I believe Titus reminds us of these words: "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good" (Titus 2:11-15).

Blessings!
